Tahsili Consort III

Forty by Fifty  &  The Big Five O     2000

 Tahsili Consort III is a celebration of songs, of milestones and millennia.

Forty by Fifty  celebrates a birth two millennia (40 by 50 years) ago.  It also includes a Tahsili Consort milestone track (its 40th) recorded in a personal milestone year (my 50th).  Although celebratory in intention, it is a relaxed celebration.  With two CDs worth of music already recorded, the group was getting very comfortable playing together.

On certain listenings, in certain moods, Forty by Fifty  is my favorite Tahsili Consort piece.

To celebrate my Big Five 0, Tahsili Consort allowed me to contribute the seven short solo piano improvisations entitled Birthday Songs.

Joining Tahsili Consort in celebration are:

          Tory Heldt          Percussion

          Aaron Heldt        Percussion

(An Extra)  Special Theory of  (Tahsili Consort Musical)  Relativity

Most people are aware of Albert Einstein's famous equation E = MC2.  Many are also familiar with his statement that "I know that the most joy in my life has come to me from my violin."  However, few people are aware that this joy led him to attempt to apply his famous proof to the realm of music.  Fifty years after his death, that effort finally bore fruit when applied to the music of Tahsili Consort, as follows:

Let  E  =  Excellence

  M  =  Music

   T  =  Tahsili  (the group)

C  =  Consort  (the members)

    x  =  the Tahsili Consort CD number

 (I, II, III, IV, V)

f(x)  =  the “togetherness” of

       Tahsili Consort's playing

and  x0  =  (Tahsili Consort)  IV   (remember,

                     V is just a selection from I - IV)

Now, after listening to

the music of Tahsili Consort,

let it be proposed that

T (ahsili)  C (onsort)  M (usic)

                                             =  E (xcellence)

PROOF:

if we assume that

lim    f(x)  =  1                  then     T  ~  1

        x>x0                                      C

(In plain English, the "togetherness"

of Tahsili Consort approached the

"togetherness" of a solo performance

the longer the group was together)

 then, within the limits of freedom,

   by their fourth CD

the group played as one

   and  T = C

   and therefore  TC =  C2

   and  TCM  =  MC2

Now, since Einstein has already proven that

                 E  =  MC2

then, therefore, it must also be true that

                             TCM  =  E          QED
